Sad eyes on a caged lion in the not too nice Nogeyama Zoo in Yokohama.

Thought it is not quite the worst zoo I have seen, as I said before, it is old and the cages are too small leaving the animals both lonely and crowded. There is also nothing much to stimulate them they are merely ‘on display’ in a very Victorian attitude to zoology. The big cats especially have no space and nothing to do except pace up and down in a heart breaking show of their troubled mental state.  Zoo like this really shouldn’t be allowed anymore.
