Those Magnificent Men

A beautiful sunny day today and as I was a bit freer I decided to take a walk along the Tsurumi River near Kamoi in Kanagawa Prefecture (the river- basin of which is apparently shaped like a Tapir, at least according to one sign I read) just to see what was happening.

Came across these men flying their remote-control aeroplanes in small a dusty park along side the river. The men were retired and free and enjoyed whizzing their flying machines around the sky in front of a distant Mount Fuji. It looked like fun but Yutako Watanabe, in the top photo, still got a lots of hassle from his wife about the time and money he spent on his expensive toys.

I know the feeling my wife judges every Yen spent on camera gear, that doesn’t earn ten times as much back, something wasteful and thus an expense I had better have some serious justification for.

Anyway I nice day out in the sun, and an interesting encounter with some magnificently relaxed men.

  1. Better than spending their money on shochu, I’m sure. Fun set of photos!

  2. Thanks for the comment Tony. Great, age defying, childish fun for sure yet I am sure they enjoy a few adult shochus afterwards. Anything to keep them out the house probably. Damon
