Bye to the bullet

If you say the title fast enough it kind of sums up living in Japan.

My first experience of a Shinkansen or bullet train was not what I’d expected, it was a holiday season ride so very busy and I had to stand the whole way. A lot of Japan is a little different to what you imagine, in some ways disappointingly so, and the space age bullet trains on that occasion were no exception.  But then I saw the 500 series, that truly was an amazing looking train now I’m not a train person but I feel a little upset to find out they have been retired.

I never got to ride one and they were my favourite shinkansen.

  1. Thanks for the comment, Damon. ‘Twas quite a boost.

I’ve just re-launched my PhotoShelter archive. I have a long way to go, however. I put a logo on that page and it’s much simpler. I played it down.

Keep photohumourist for blogging my street photography.

Shame about the Bullet train. There’s much excitement here at the moment about a new high speed train capable of 250 mph. London to Brum initially then on up to Glasgow and eventually a line up the east side too. It’s a long way off though. I’ll be an old man by the times it’s ready. If it’s a go, that is.

    Good to hear from you.
