Happy January Second

Due to the last few days being all about the kids I have done no photography this year but today was the emperor`s open day at the palace, when he wishes the populous a good new year.

I didn`t go unfortunately: been to the palace twice now however for the emperor`s birthday on the 23rd of December in 2008 and 2009, when the picture above was taken, I imagine it`s all very similar: lots of police, right-wingers and flags and a little, old anachronism who is much more polite than those that say they respect him.

More images of Emperor Akihito of Japan’s birthday address here:

This is not as good a message as his but arrives late on the same day so Happy New Year, none-the less. Hope it`s a good one.

Off on a long awaited travel tomorrow (hopefully) will post from there.

  1. I like the Emperor framed in amongst the flags. Will have to go there some day for his birthday.

Enjoy your trip, look forward to some updates from there.
