Danjiri matsuri

The wireless internet has been less than ideal in my, admittedly very cheap, hotel but had a good day on Sunday with this crazy festival and the friendly locals that helped be out with the police so that I could  get a slightly better position to take pictures. Of course it is quite dangerous should one of these four tonne floats fall over as they are skidded round corners so the police don`t let you get that close.

The lantern hung parade at night (image above) is more tranquil: everyone relaxes and drinks and enjoys themselves after the manic, mad rush of the earlier events. The generously given alcohol is one of the main reasons I could not post this last night. And the 9 hour night bus ride before that had me totally exhausted.

More later.

  1. The photos are looking good. If you have chance the Osu street performers festival is on this year in Nagoya on the 9th to the 11th of next month. It’s held in the covered shopping area between kamimaezu and osu kannon each year and has some really great acts.
