Have a look at this great photo essay by Hungarian photographer, Gyula Sopronyi about whale hunters in Indonesia.

With the Japanese whaling fleet down in the oceans off Antartica again hunting whales and politicians and TV personalities opining about threats to the country`s ancient whaling culture from over-sentimental westerners the images in the story bring home the true meaning of what traditional whaling is: look at the boats, the wooden harpoons and the hungry need in the people who have killed whales like this for thousands of years to survive. Then Look at the Nisshin Maru factory ship and harpoon ships, killing hundreds of whales with explosive tipped harpoons at no risk to the whalers themselves and creating tonnes of unwanted and unneeded whale meat.
